She grew up in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, as the oldest of five children in a family where nursing wasn't just a profession — it was a legacy. A fourth-generation nurse, she learned to make her bed with hospital corners before she learned to drive. By the time she was in junior high, she was a St. John Ambulance cadet. In high school, a candy striper. In university, a volunteer at a nursing home and with the Canadian Cancer Society. Caring for people wasn't something she chose. It was simply who she was.
In 2000, she immigrated to the United States. Five years later, a visit to St. Petersburg, Florida, changed everything. She never left. She built her life here — raised her daughters, planted roots, and spent more than two decades showing up for this community as a nurse, a leader, and eventually, a nurse practitioner.
The decision to found Luminary Integrative Health wasn't made overnight. It was made in the quiet accumulation of moments — rushed appointments that should have been conversations, patients she wanted to know better but couldn't, a growing sense that the system was asking her to provide care in a way that fell short of what her patients actually needed. When she discovered the direct primary care model, something clicked. This is medicine as it was meant to be.
At Luminary, Angela sees patients the way she always wanted to — unhurried, attentive, and genuinely invested in who they are and what they're working toward. Her patients aren't chart numbers. They're people she knows.
When she's not at the clinic, Angela fills her time with the things she loves — travel, dancing, pickleball, swimming, reading, and watching stand-up comedy. She puts real care into her home: cooking, gardening, decorating, and gathering people around her table. Her daughters remain her greatest adventure, and she takes every chance she gets to be with them.
